About
Khel was founded in Sydney, Australia by Indian-Australian artist Sita Ghatty. It encapsulates and beautifully combines her passion for art, minimalism, and her deep-rooted culture and heritage. Her mission is to help preserve cultural identity, and pay homage to iconic elements of Eastern heritage, culture and roots.

A piece was missing, and when she couldn't find it in market, she decided to design it herself.
In her own words, the three foundational truths behind why she started Khel --

Culture and colour is disappearing from our architecture, homes and lives. We like different things now than we used to, and our taste in art — the kind that we can emotionally connect with — is evolving. My art embraces this minimalism (because well, frankly, I love it too) and combines it with culture.

Each migration sets off a dissolution of heritage, compounded by generation. As a migrant myself, what I teach my future kids about Indian heritage will be far less rich and in-depth than what my parents taught me. I want to build my family in a home that looks, feels, and is, deeply rooted in culture.

With migration growing and an increasingly globalised world, connection to culture today becomes the key to preservation of culture in the future. Movies, food, language, community and art become those important ways that help us maintain that connection. I hope my art helps others keep this connection, and add a little bit of their identity to their walls.
